Rate changes now take an effective date
A rate change used to apply to all unbilled time, however old. Now it starts from a date you choose, and you see what it affects before you save.
What's new
- Change… next to a rate takes the new rate, an Effective from date and an optional note. For a past date, a preview shows the hours affected: invoiced (unchanged), on draft invoices, approved, and still open. A future date takes effect that day.
- Each rate keeps a history of past, current and scheduled rates, with who set each one.
- Find it in Settings → Users (Edit User), a project's Settings, the Projects edit dialog and My Profile.
Also improved
- Removing someone from a project keeps their rate there, and their unbilled time keeps its price. End override from… stops a rate on a date.
- After a change you can update the affected draft invoices in one step. A draft still priced at older rates offers Update prices or Keep these prices, and finalising it warns but never blocks.
- Review draft prices… on a project replaces Recalculate rates.
- Switching a typed amount to hours × rate now says when that moves it by a few cents, and lets you keep your amount.
Who it affects
Company admins can change any rate. Managers with Can see rates & amounts can change project rates (past dates included) and their own default rate, and see people's project rates read-only. Employees never see rates. Every change is recorded in the Audit Log.
Good to know
Drafts saved before typed prices were tracked don't record which rates were typed, so Update prices may recalculate a rate typed on one of those drafts.
