Choose which managers can see rates and amounts

Managers approve time and run the week, but not every manager needs to see what the company charges or earns. Company admins can now decide that one manager at a time.

What changed

Under Settings → Users, the Role & access dialog has a Can see rates & amounts switch for managers. It covers billable and cost rates, invoices, estimates, retainers, revenue and budget amounts.

A manager with the switch off still approves timesheets and time off, and still sees hours everywhere. They don't see the billing pages, or money on My Time, Approvals, project pages, reports and exports.

Who it affects

• Company admins always see rates and amounts, and employees never do. That hasn't changed.
• Managers you already have keep access. Managers who join from now on start without it; turn it on under Role & access once they've joined.
• Turning the switch off reaches a page the manager already has open within about a minute.
• Expenses aren't affected: approvers still see the amounts they approve.
• Retainer and recurring-invoice notifications go only to people who can see amounts.

Every change to the switch is recorded in the Audit Log.
