Improved Settings Projects Invoices

Rate fields now say which rate applies

A person can have a default rate, a project can have its own rate, and a person can have an override on one project. Which one an hour actually bills at used to be something you had to work out yourself. The rate fields now tell you, in the same words everywhere.

Where you'll see it

  • Edit User → Projects: an empty Rate override field shows what this person bills on that project without one, and why — for example $150.00 · project rate, or their default rate. It used to show their default even on projects with a rate of their own.
  • Billable rate in Edit User, Invite User and My Profile explains when a person's default is used.
  • Hourly Rate on a project explains that a blank rate bills each person at their default, and that a person's override wins.
  • New invoice → Review & Edit: each time line's rate says where it came from, such as project rate or override. Change it and the hint shows what the rate would otherwise be.
  • Settings → Users: the rate column is now Default rate / Cost.

As before, rates only appear for people who can see rates and amounts.
